Watershed planning is a demanding and time-consuming process. It can take up to two years, and many drafts, to complete the watershed management planning process. Factors such as the size of the watershed, information availability and funding all influence the time it takes to complete a plan.
Public participation leads to better decision making and enhances support for the watershed management plan.
Watershed goals/objectives should be developed based on restoring or protecting water quality and desired uses for the future of the watershed.
