What are some low-cost techniques for streambank stabilization?
There are several low-cost alternatives that can be used to control streambank erosion. 1.Willow-Post (installing willow cuttings to eroded streambanks) 2. Bendway Weirs (rock structures) 3. Stone Toe Protection (stone dike)
How long does it take to write a watershed management plan?
Watershed planning is a demanding and time-consuming process. It can take up to two years, and many drafts, to complete the watershed management planning process. Factors such as the size of the watershed, information availability and funding all influence the time it takes to complete a plan.
Why is public participation important?
Public participation leads to better decision making and enhances support for the watershed management plan.
How are watershed goals/objectives developed?
Watershed goals/objectives should be developed based on restoring or protecting water quality and desired uses for the future of the watershed.
When is the deadline for submitting IEPA 319 grant applications?
IEPA Section 319 applications are accepted June 1 through August 1.
Can you submit C2000 grant applications online?
Yes C2000 Grant applications can be submitted online at http://dnr.state.il.us/orep/c2000/ecosystem/
What factors will be included in a water quality assessment?
A water quality assessment will include information on nutrients, sediment, pH level, pesticides, herbicides, temperature, turbidity, dissolved oxygen and heavy metals.
